JUVENTUS have their way with a Baggio-less BRESCIA.
After a disappointing 3rd place finish last season, Juventus attempted to re-structure the squad. Starting with a new coach in FABIO CAPELLO, followed by several key signings; FABIO CANNAVARO from Internazionale, JONATHAN ZEBINA and EMERSON from rivals Roma, MANUEL BLASI from Parma, and ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC from Ajax. All 5 players saw action on Sunday's week 1 of the Serie A season.

2 first half goals from PAVEL NEDVED and DAVID TREZEGUET gave Juve enough breathing room to start playing at ease. IBRAHIMOVIC then entered the field as a 2nd-half substitute, and did not disappoint in his debut with the Bianconeri. An excellent solo effort created space for him to power home Juve's 3rd goal of the match. But more importantly, gaining the adoration of the Juventini.

GIOVANE ELBER is out for the season
Ex-Bayern Munich striker GIOVANE ELBER fell victim to a broken ankle during Lyon's Ligue 1 match against Metz on Sunday.  ELBER was carted off the field in a stretcher, showing signs of exruciating pain. It was later determined that ELBER had broken his ankle, although some reports claim a fractured fibula and dislocated right ankle are his injuries.

It was confirmed that ELBER suffered a fractured right fibula and dislocated right ankle after landing awkwardly as he pursued a jump ball.
